Katie Simon

Katie Simon was raised just outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and came to Washington, D.C. in January 2012 following work on various political campaigns and a year of national service with AmeriCorps VISTA. In 2014-15, Katie crafted and directed the first-of-its-kind #VoteTurkiye campaign, a get-out-the-vote effort to increase participation of Turkish citizens living in the United States, during the 2015 General Elections in Turkey. The campaign resulted in doubled voter turnout nationally in the United States and partnered with strategic allied groups in a dozen countries worldwide. Just prior to joining AAUW in early 2016, Katie worked in the gun violence prevention space with the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, where she implemented bold grassroots strategy to advocate for sensible gun laws.

Katie is a graduate of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a founding member and former board member of the Saint Teresa Leadership and Service Institute for Women, and a dyed-in-the-wool Green Bay Packers fan.
